What is the Lazomun ?

The Lazomun project is a simulation of the United Nations (UN). The school comity is a simplification of the Lazomun project. The name Lazomun comes from the high school “Les Lazaristes” and MUN means Model United Nations. Our school is lucky to be part of this project thanks to our teacher, Mrs Taillandier. MUN simulations involve thousands of students each year. It helps them understand the principles of the UN and how it works.

Our MUN’s school club is open to year 10 students. There are different roles in the club: nine country delegates who defend the policies of the countries they represent, one vice president, four members of the press service and one in the messaging service. We meet once a week on Friday lunchtime. Our first meetings were about the operation of the Lazomun and what our roles mean.

A little trip to know more

On Thursday 12th of October, we went to Geneva in Switzerland with the students from “Les Lazaristes”.

We started the day by visiting the Red Cross Museum. We listened to an audio guide about the humanitarian work of the Red Cross.

It was very interesting and enriching. We learnt so many things!

In the afternoon, we went to the headquarters of the UN. We attended a meeting of the Human Rights committee. It is immediately translated and transmitted into six different languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) which are the main languages of the UN. There were many country delegates who were there and they defended their different opinions.

Finally, we went to the gift shop to buy a little souvenir of our trip.
